Meeting
Our guest speaker in October will be local resident,
and scarecrow maker, Murray LOANE, who will be telling us about the Bikes For
Humanity project, in which he is involved.

Garden Ramble
The Bundanoon Garden Ramble is taking place once again,
this year on Saturday and Sunday, October 23 and 24.
Once again, the Club will be operating the popular
Lions Café, this time at the home of Laurel and Ron HONES, cnr Lorna Close and
Ellsmore Road.
This is a major Club event, so all members are expected
to help out. Please click
here to see the
roster, then advise Lyn by
email when you will
be able to help. Lyn will then send you a confirmation email.
Similarly, help is needed selling raffle tickets in
Railway Ave, either morning or afternoon. The roster is on the same page as that
for Lions Café
RSA Course
Once again Bundanoon Lions will be manning the
Beer Tent at the upcoming Highland Fling cycle festivities in November. But
before we can do it everybody serving alcohol must possess a
Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate.
Courses will be held in October in Goulburn (Oct 22) and Moss Vale (Oct 29). The
course is virtually all day, and the $95 fee will be paid by the Club, so if you
are interested in attending please advise Les ASAP on 4883 6918
Business Meetings
Our first meeting in our new venue proved hugely
popular, so arrangements have been made for all board meetings and business
meetings henceforth to be in the Supper Room at the Soldiers' Memorial Hall.
The Supper Room is comfortable, has reverse cycle
air-conditioning, and
there are full kitchen facilities available for heating or reheating food,
making tea, coffee, etc. and for keeping drinks cold.
Next meeting there is on October 12.
Anniversary Dinner
Our 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner will be held on Saturday,
November 27 at the Bundanoon Club,
Erith Street.
For more information click

For those who don't know, our club was formed officially on 17 September 1990
and chartered on 18 October of the same year.
It's a significant anniversary, so please enter the date in your diary NOW.
Chinese dinner a success
With Idle a Wile closed when our May dinner meeting was held, we conducted an
informal dinner meeting at the Bundanoon Chinese Restaurant.
This was deemed so successful that we would like to pursue other ethnic
themes when Idle a Wile is not available. If you have any suggestions for
themes and/or venues, please advise Lyn or Peter on 4883 7988.
Les receives Travel Award
En route to Mildura, Margaret and Les, along with Lyn
and Peter, stopped off in Hay. There, on the recommendation of renowned
"foodie", Lion Kev, we dined at "Wok in Hay", an interesting exercise in
cross-cultural marketing. As well as serving excellent Thai food, more
conventional Australian tastes are also catered for, with a full range of
hamburgers, hot dogs, Chiko rolls and - wait for it - Pluto Pups, while at night
pizzas are on offer. Secretary Les was so taken with the Pluto Pups that he
bought four for consumption in Mildura - then forgot about them until they were
well past their use-by date. Still mourning their passing at the June dinner
meeting, Les was elated to be presented with a fresh Pluto Pup, purchased only a
few days previously as Lyn and Peter passed through Hay towards the end of their
Outback trip.
Club wins International awards
At the March 23 dinner
meeting, PDG Ralph presented Lions International awards to the club, and also to
president Elizabeth and Secretary/Treasurer Les.

Giant Single Malt raffle
Once again, to coincide with
Brigadoon, we'll be conducting our giant raffle for a collection of premium
single malt Scotch Whiskies.
Following the success of last year's
raffle, for which tickets were sold only at Brigadoon, tickets will be on sale
for a week prior to the event, and volunteers are needed to man the selling
table in front of the newsagency.
Permits have been received from Council
for sale of tickets in Railway Parade from Saturday April 10 to Friday April 16
inclusive, while tickets will also be sold at Brigadoon on Saturday April 17,
with the draw to take place at the oval at 1500.
Selection of the whiskies is complete
and a colourful A4 poster has been produced to promote the raffle, along with
tasting notes on the selected whiskies.

Margaret's birthday
On May 15, Margaret JOHNSON celebrates a major birthday - and
Bundanoon Lions are invited to participate.
The party is being catered, but Lions
have been recruited as waiters and waitresses (I refuse to use the abomination,
"waitpersons" - PWS) in return for a donation to the Club from Les and
Margaret.
However, Lions will not just be there to
work. It is Margaret's wish that we all join in as part of the party.
Please phone secretary Les on 4883 6918
for more details.
New member
At the April dinner meeting we'll be inducting new member, Kevin
BLOCK, who we'll welcome formally on this site after his induction.
Blankets for Rosnel
The Club has issued an urgent
pre-winter appeal for donations of blankets and duvets (doonas) for residents of
Rosnel Special Care Hostel.
Any donations of clean blankets and doonas
(or duvets) may be left with club secretary Les Johnson, or you can arrange for
them to be collected by calling Les on 4883 6918
