September Dinner Meeting
As Idle a Wile will be closed, we are having a
Sunday Meeting on 26 September, at the RSL hall, when we shall sort out once and for all, the
Club's archives.
All members are asked to attend, as this will have the same status as a
Dinner Meeting, and will be followed by a BBQ.
Daffodil Day
On Friday 27 August, at McDonald's, Sutton Forest (Sally's Corner) we raised
more than $3000 for the Cancer Council!
The result was aided more than a little by the number
of police and their families who stopped over en route to an attestation
ceremony at the Police College in Goulburn, then called again on their way back.
As one wag remarked, definitely not the time and place to stage a holdup!
Sincere thanks to all those who helped by buying, and
braved the icy and windy conditions by selling. A fantastic result!
Anniversary Dinner
Our 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner will be held on Saturday,
November 27 at the Bundanoon Club,
Erith Street.

For those who don't know, our club was formed officially on 17 September 1990
and chartered on 18 October of the same year.
It's a significant anniversary, so please enter the date in your diary NOW.
Important Notice: Club Dinner Meetings
Previously it was this club's practice, and is that of
Lions Clubs generally, to assume members' attendance at dinner meetings unless
an apology was received beforehand. If no apology was received from a member,
then the member had to pay, regardless of attendance.
Henceforth this policy will be resumed. So if you can't
attend a meeting, or if you wish to bring a guest (subject to space available)
phone President Les by the Friday prior to the meeting on 4882 6918.
Fathers Day Raffle
Due to Legacy Week being from August 28 to September 4,
and thus clashing with our proposed selling dates, the Father's Day raffle has
been cancelled.
But we urge you to contribute to Legacy during that
week!
Further Changes to Meeting arrangements
Due to the popularity of Idle a Wile for dinner
meetings, and the numbers of very welcome guests attending, your board has
decided that such meetings should be largely social events.
Therefore, the board meetings previously held at 7.00 pm on the
second Tuesday of each month will now be moved forward to 6.30 pm, and followed
by a Club Business Meeting at 7.00.
The venue at the RSL hall remains unchanged.
Thus, the next business meeting will be at
7.00 pm sharp on Tuesday September 14.
Important news re
subscriptions
Good news for all members who have a spouse or
partner interested in joining is that there is now a special Family subscription
rate of $120 per annum. That is $80 for the primary member and $40 for the
partner, payable half-yearly as before.
So get those partners in to help share the load
officially, rather than unofficially.
And a reminder: Half yearly dues are now payable.
Changeover lunch and ceremony well
attended
A strong turnout of members attended the annual
Changeover ceremony at the Bundanoon Country Motel on Sunday, July 11.
Club wins MD Convention Award
Following our participation in the recent Mildura MD201 Convention,
presenting the Club's flashID Project, we were both pleased and surprised to
receive in the post an award for the Best Commercial Display at the convention.

RSA Course
Once again Bundanoon Lions will be manning the
Beer Tent at the upcoming Highland Fling cycle festivities in November. But
before we can do it everybody manning the tent must possess a
Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate.
Arrangements are being made with the Bundanoon Club for a one-day course to be
run for us in conjunction with the Club. Participation fees will be paid by
Lions, but we must have an idea of numbers.
If you are interested in participating, please
contact Les on or before the July 11 Changeover Day.
First Aid Course
We are also considering running a First Aid course. If
you are interested in gaining a First Aid qualification, or updating an old one,
please advise Les by July 11
